FY 2026-27 (AY 2027-28) ke slabs par dono regimes compare karein. Salary, deductions aur age daalein — turant pata chalein kaunsa better hai.
How the comparison works
Same gross income is taxed under both regimes. New regime: standard deduction ₹75,000 for salaried/pensioners, and your other deductions do not apply. Old regime: standard deduction ₹50,000 plus the deductions you entered above.
Rebate: New regime — zero tax if taxable income ≤ ₹12 lakh (with marginal relief just above it). Old regime — rebate up to ₹12,500 if taxable income ≤ ₹5 lakh. Health & education cess of 4% is added to both.
Worked example: ₹12.75 lakh salary, ₹1.5 lakh in 80C — old regime tax is ₹1,40,400; new regime tax is zero (rebate covers ₹12 lakh taxable). At ₹15 lakh salary with ₹1.75 lakh deductions: old ₹2,02,800 vs new ₹97,500 — over ₹1 lakh saved in the new regime.
Simplifications: Surcharge (income above ₹50 lakh), special-rate income like capital gains, professional tax and employer NPS are not included. Actual liability may differ slightly.
FAQ
Which regime is the default?
The new regime is the default from FY 2023-24 onwards. If you do nothing while filing, your tax is computed in the new regime. Salaried employees can opt for the old regime every year; those with business income can switch back to the old regime only once.
New regime mein zero tax kab hota hai?
If taxable income (after ₹75,000 standard deduction) is ₹12 lakh or less, the 87A rebate wipes out the entire tax — so salaried people with gross income up to ₹12.75 lakh pay zero tax in the new regime, with marginal relief for incomes slightly above.
Old regime kab better hota hai?
When your total deductions are large — 80C (₹1.5L), 80D health insurance, HRA, home-loan interest, NPS. At higher incomes you typically need ₹4–6 lakh of deductions for the old regime to win. Don't guess — enter your real deduction total and let the calculator decide.
What deductions are still allowed in the new regime?
Standard deduction ₹75,000 for salaried/pensioners, employer's NPS contribution under 80CCD(2), and a few employer-linked deductions. 80C, 80D, HRA, LTA and home-loan interest are NOT available in the new regime.
Kya yahi final tax hai?
No. This is an estimate for FY 2026-27 (AY 2027-28) excluding surcharge and special-rate incomes. For filing, verify with the official Income Tax e-filing calculator or a CA.
